Lawrence Paul Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home & Funeral Directors, Inc. - LaPlace on Dec. 14, 2025.
Lawrence Renard Paul, Sr.

1952 - 2025

On the evening of December 3, 2025, Lawrence Renard Paul, Sr. made his exit from this earthly world and made his entrance into the next.

Lawrence Renard Paul, Sr., the son of Hazel Eugene Paul and the late Lawrence Paul, was born on November 7, 1952, in New Orleans, LA. Renard is the brother of Darnell Paul, Kendall Paul (Debra), Nedra Augustine (Joseph), the late Kirby Paul and the husband of Monica Hawkins Paul. Renard was a native of St. Rose, LA and a resident of Paradis, LA.

Renard attended Pecan Grove, Bethune High School, as well as Grambling State University. He was honorably discharged as Airman First Class after serving in the United States Airforce. Over the Years, Renard was employed at Bungie, ADM, Cargill, St. Charles Parish, as well as Enterprise Rental, where he made many friends. Renard met Monica Hawkins Paul in 1990 and they were married in 1993. They spent a wonderful 35 years together. Together they shared the love of 6 children, 18 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

There wasn't a place you couldn't go without someone knowing him. Known to many as "Nuck," Bouncer, Beer Man or just Paul. Renard was funny, he was kind and he was a family man who loved his family more than words can express. Renard was also a football man who loved his "New Orleans Saints" and the Minnesota Vikings. Yelling , "Ice Cold Beer" was something he loved while working at the Saints Football games. Miller Lite and Jack Daniels were his absolute favorite drinks while watching football. Spending time with all of his family was what he loved and cherished. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life. Family or not, any child that crossed paths with Renard automatically adopted him as their grandfather. His smile and love for children was unmatched. Renard absolutely loved his mother, Hazel. His face would light up whenever he would say "I gotta go see about my mama, you know!" definitely a little bit of a "mama's boy" at heart…lol. Upon greeting his mother he would say, "Wussup Irene or call her, My Ole Girl."

Renard was the family mechanic, our little jokester, and the absolute best. Although Lawrence is no longer with us physically, he will forever live on through the memories we all have of him.

Lawrence Renard Paul, Sr. leaves his precious memories to his wife, Monica Hawkins-Paul, his children Laurence Paul (LeKenya), Bradford Paul (Maya), LaConta Hawkins-Johnson (Marvin), LaToya Hawkins ( Raymone), Jasmone Hawkins, Jonathan Hawkins (Cynara), his grandchildren; Bailey Paul, Bella Paul, Braxton Paul, Tanaya Paul-Nelson (Josh), Isaiah Paul, Mia Williams, Myria Williams, MaShyia Johnson, MaKayla Johnson, Garbielle Williams, Davin Zeringue, Jordan Moore, Jamal Moore, Jada Moore, Laila Hawkins, Jayden Hawkins, Chloe Hawkins, his great grandchildren; Azy'liyah Brown and Zenani Hawkins. Lawrence also leaves his memories with a host of family members and friends.

Renard was preceded in death by his father Lawrence Paul, his brother Kirby Paul and granddaughter Ayana Paul.
