Pregler – Lawrence "Larry" Pregler, age 83, of Glen St. Mary, Florida passed away on Friday, January 13, 2023, at W. Frank Wells Nursing Home. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 26, 1939, to the late Jacob Pregler and Eleanor Lucas Pregler. Larry was raised in Pennsylvania. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Army where he proudly served our country for 2 years. Soon after, Larry furthered his education at Lincoln University where he earned his bachelor's and master's degree in Health and Human Services. For a few years, he worked as a used cars salesman, but his main passion was helping people in a deeper way. Larry overcame adversity and his desire was to help others overcome as well. He dedicated his life as a therapist for drug and alcohol rehabilitation and worked for a halfway house in Pottstown, PA. In the late 1970's Larry met his best friend, Mary Witherbee and they were happily married on July 29, 1977. Larry and Mary made Baker County their home in 2004 and have enjoyed their time together the past 46 years. Larry was talented in so many ways and used his gifts wisely. He enjoyed creating music and thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the praise and worship team at First United Methodist Church where he was a longtime member. He also enjoyed writing, leather crafting, wood working, photography, bonsai, and most of all, spending time with his family. Larry was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Carol Pregler.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Witherbee Pregler of Glen St. Mary, FL; children, Robert (Larissa) Pregler of Telford, PA, Greg (Shelly) Pregler of Sellersville, PA, Michael (Bonnie) Papp of York Beach, ME, and Susan (Curtis) Miller of Glen St. Mary, FL; nine grandchildren, Alex, Elizabeth, William Papp, Savanna, Brittney, Casidy, and Greg Pregler, and Jacob and Samuel Miller; along with many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Larry's Life will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023, at 11:00 am at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Pope, and Father Martin Raj officiating. A prepared meal and visitation time will be offered immediately following the service. All are welcome. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Larry's honor to A.A. or Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Arrangements are under the care and direction of V.
