Lawrence "Larry" Ruffra, 88, was born on December 16th, 1935 in Louisville, Kentucky, and passed peacefully in his home on August 15th, 2024.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Nancy Ruffra, lovingly known as "Meemee". Larry is remembered by his three daughters, Debbie Conder (Tim), Pam Mattingly (Joe) and Karen Wirth (Brad). He was met in Heaven by his oldest grandson Jeremy Mattingly, and daughter Cheryl. Larry was "Pappaw" to his six grandchildren; Jeremy Mattingly (deceased), Kristina Slattery (Shane), Lindsay McCollum (Jesse), Evan Conder (Rae), Kelsey Cook (Daniel), and Corey Mattingly (Shelby Harding). Larry was blessed with six great grandchildren who loved him dearly; Jackson, Scout, Riggs, Caroline, Ty and Lucy, who will join our family later this year. Larry was also survived by his sister, Mary Ann Bigelow, and her children LuAnn Muench (Eddie) and David Bigelow.
Larry was a member of Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church and spent many years serving the poor through his work at the Franciscan Soup Kitchen. He served for 6 years in the United States Army Reserves and retired proudly after 38 years at GE Appliances as a Service Technician.
He loved being with his family above all else, was an avid University of Louisville sports fan, and spending time at Nolin Lake, where he had a home for over 40 years. Larry will be remembered for the love he shared with others, his wit, and pride for his family. He was a loyal friend to many, and a dedicated servant of God.
The family will celebrate Larry's life on Tuesday, August 20th, 2024 at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9-11 am, with Mass to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Jeremy Mattingly Foundation.

I think of my cousin, Larry, as a kind, gracious man and a loving husband, dad, and grandfather. He was so much like his own father. Larry gave warm smiles. He was a GOOD MAN!! I am proud to be related to him.
