In Loving Memory of Lawrence Paul Sebuck March 24, 1942 – May 15, 2025
Lawrence Paul Sebuck, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, coach, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 15, 2025, at the age of 83. A man of deep faith, strong convictions, and a heart full of love, Larry lived a remarkable life that touched generations.
Born on March 24, 1942, Larry was the first in his family to attend college, earning his degree from the University of Detroit. He went on to enjoy a long and successful career as an engineer at Ford Motor Company, where his precision and work ethic earned him the respect of all who worked alongside him.
A lifelong Detroit Tiger and baseball enthusiast, Larry was drafted by the Detroit Tigers out of high school-a dream come true for a kid who grew up idolizing the team. Though life led him down a different path, he never lost his love for the game or for the Tigers, and he passed that passion on to his children and grandchildren.
After college he got involved in harness racing and his horse, Bold Ruler Pick, on Dec. 25, 1968, became the first to set a record of seven straight wins at the Windsor Raceway.
Larry coached countless young athletes over the years, including his own sons. But what set him apart was not just his knowledge of the game-it was the way he taught life lessons through sport. He believed in the power of learning through mistakes, of growing through failure, and of finding strength in perseverance.
He was an active member of the Detroit Catholic Central Dads Club, where he built lifelong friendships and gave back generously to his community. More than anything, Larry was a family man-an ever-present source of support, humor, and wisdom. As a great-grandfather, his legacy of love and guidance lives on in the youngest members of the Sebuck family.
Despite facing significant health challenges over the years, Larry always found a way to press on. His resilience became a running family joke-we all said he had nine lives-and yet his perseverance was nothing short of miraculous.
Now, his earthly journey has come to a close, but we know this is not the end. It's the beginning of his eternal rest, and the continuation of his story in a place of peace.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Veronica Sebuck; his sons, Dave (Kristina) Sebuck and Jeff (Shari) Sebuck; his grandchildren, Sara (Donnie) Yoder, Shane (Marie) Sebuck, Allison Sebuck, Dylan Sebuck, Cameron Sebuck and great-grandchildren Hayley Yoder, Kamden Yoder, and Kaiden Yoder.
He was preceded in death by his father, Peter Sebuck, his mother Rose (Gladish) Sebuck, his infant sister, Barbara Sebuck, and daughter in-law Denise (Dave) Sebuck.
Rest and be still. Love ya, Pops
