Lawton "Tony" Mellichampe, Jr., was born in September of 1946 to Lawton "Skip" Mellichampe, Sr., and Peggy Wilson Mellichampe. He was the youngest of their three children. He left this old beautiful world for an even more beautiful one on July 24, 2025.

Tony served his country in Vietnam. The joys of his life were music (especially guitars), musicians, and his many beloved friends. He had a gift for friendship, keeping close to his old friends – from elementary school on – and making new friends easily. Those who dropped in on Tony for just a few minutes for help with their guitars would find themselves staying an hour or more because of the great music and the great conversation. He had an exceptional work ethic and believed that anything worth doing was worth doing well.

He is survived by his two sisters, Suzanne Klinzmann (Art)of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Lois Hedges of Annapolis, Maryland, as well as former wife and dear friend Diane Martin of Stevensville, Maryland. His legacy continues in his nephew Evan Mellichampe (Ashley) of Denver, Colorado, their daughter Audrey (who is learning to play the guitar), and nephew Joel Beatty of Fort Morgan, Colorado. Tony will never be forgotten by those who love him.
