Kathryne Lea Dreaden Long, age 66, of Marks, MS gained her wings on Thursday, July 28, 2022.
Lea was born in Oxford, MS on February 3, 1956 to Walter E. Dreaden, Jr. and Sarah Kathryne "Kitty" Cox Dreaden, affectionally known as Nana.
Lea graduated from Delta Academy in Marks, MS in 1974 and continued her education obtaining a Bachelor degree from Delta State University in Cleveland, MS. She recently retired in June of 2022 from Family Medical Clinic where she worked a combined thirty plus years pouring her heart into her career to help others. Lea is known for her witty personality, caring soul, and her ability to make anyone laugh at her endless jokes. She is often referred to as "one of a kind" because of her unique sense of humor and unwillingness to ever lose an argument. In her younger years she enjoyed playing basketball, hunting and fishing with her father, and bicycling the streets of Lambert with her life-long best friends and siblings. In her later years she enjoyed going to Plum Point at Enid Lake, riding motorcycles with her beloved husband of 43 years, Paul Long, taking trips to the beach, cheering on her Ole Miss Rebels and riding side-by-sides. Lea had a passion for animals of all kinds, especially boxers. Most importantly though, she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her four grandchildren who were her whole world.
She was preceded in death by her father, Walter E. Dreaden, Jr., her mother, Sarah Kathryne Cox Dreaden, her sister Lynn Dreaden Mize, her brother-in-law, Butch Jenkins, her niece Hannah Caroline Mize, her grandparents, multiple aunts and uncles, and her beloved boxer Gibson.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Paul Long; daughters, Suzanne (Ryan) Winters of Oxford, MS and Sarah Grace (Tony) Domino of Jonesboro, AR; sister, Elise Dreaden Jenkins of Ruleville, MS; grandchildren, Riley and Reese Domino of Jonesboro, AR and Ryan Tyler and Raelyn Winters of Oxford, MS; nieces, Kaitlyn Mize (John) Burnett of Oxford, MS, Claire Mize of Oxford, MS, and Cameron Mize of Oxford, MS; brother-in-law Tommy (Elena) Mize of Olive Branch, MS; multiple other nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at West Marks Baptist Church. The Celebration of Life memorial will follow at 2:00 p.m. Brother Laurie Jones will officiate the service.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Richard Waller, Chris Crawford, Ray Crawford, Mike Newton, Randy Perkins, Bruce Prahl, Grendal Roy, Milton Williams, Jr., Jimmy Wilson, Jordy Austin, Dusty Colclasure, and Scott Hampton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southern Magnolia Boxer Rescue, PO Box 289, Becker, MS 38825 and Tunica Humane Society, 4500 Fox Island Road, Tunica, MS 38676.
