Lea "Madre" Saporta

Passed away on June 25,2023 at the age of 99. Lea lived in Rochester for most of her life among a strong community of family and friends. Her greatest joy was hosting family gatherings, celebrations, picnics, and holidays. A wonderful cook, she always had something delicious awaiting anyone who visited.

Affectionally known as "Madre," Lea was a loving wife, mother, nuna, aunt and friend. She was very active in the Light of Israel Sisterhood, serving as both President and Treasurer. She traveled extensively and loved to visit with her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded by her husband of 67 years, Abe Saporta; parents Abraham and Allegra Nahmias; brothers Danny Newman, David Nahmias, Jake Nahmias, Gabriel Nahmias, Sol Newman; sisters Mary Palermo and Betty Hecker. She is survived by her daughters Vicki Saporta, Ilene Saporta (Steven Wodka), Holly DeNovellis (Vincent); grandchildren Jay Wodka, Michael Wodka (Colleen Malley), Ross DeNovellis (Kristen), Laura Wright (Jacob), Carly DeNovellis; great grandchildren Brooks Wodka, Leo Wodka, Ava Wright; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held on THURSDAY, June 29th at 10 AM at the Britton Road Cemetery (188 Britton Rd) CLICK HERE for a map to the cemetery.
