Judith H. Saporta

Judith Saporta, nee Hammond, 83. Beloved wife of the late Dr. Jack Saporta; devoted mother of David (Jodi) Saporta and Victoria (Bob) Johnson; proud grandmother of Monica (Travis) Grana, Nathan, and Luke (Ashley) Saporta and Dylan and Andrew Johnson; and great grandmother of Cali and Lily Saporta; preceded in death by sister Kathleen (late Denny) Shermeta and brother Bill Hammond. She is survived by dear sister Suzanne (late Rube) Bailey, brother Hank (late Della) Hammond, and brother Pete (Brenda) Hammond. She is a loving aunt to many. Judy was born in Sandusky, Ohio to the late Paul and Gretchen Hammond in 1940. She was second oldest of 6 siblings and spent most of her childhood in Columbus, Ohio, where she graduated from North High School in 1958. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Science in Social Welfare from Ohio State University in 1963. She left Columbus shortly thereafter to find work in Chicago, where she held various jobs as a social worker. While working, she met her husband, Jack. Theirs was an on again off again relationship, and they ended their lives as true companions. Judy always had a flair for style and fun. She loved the theater, playing tennis and walking for miles. Her greatest love were her children and grandchildren. Family meant everything to her throughout her life. She rededicated herself to the Lord in her later years and was baptized in a private lake in Huntley, Illinois. The Lord be with you. Rest in peace momma. A visitation will be held at Shalom Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 W. Rand Rd., Arlington Heights on Saturday, January 6, 11 AM until time of memorial service at 12 noon. Interment to follow.
