On Thursday, November 25th, 2021, Leafor Cornelius Goode was granted his angel wings at the age of 66. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, he came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Leafor is reunited in heaven with his parents Giles P. and Beulah Mackey Goode and his brothers Ray Goode, Giles P Goode II. He will also be reunited with his wife, Diane, who went to be with the Lord November 8th, 2021.
Leafor was born to late Giles Presley and Beulah Mackey-Goode in Columbus, Ohio at Grant Hospital. He attended Central High School in 1975. He served honorably in the Marines for 4 years in North Carolina. His first job he worked at Cameco 6 years with his brother Victor. Leafor received his certificate of completion on March 17th,1992 for truck training, he had a passion for driving trucks, he worked for Tri-State, Roadway. He took pride in his work and loved being able to help others whenever it was needed.
He was a family man and friend to all and a hard working and giving man. He love fishing with brother Giles and going to cook outs with his sister Norma. He loved to watch sports with brother Victor. While driving trucks, he met the love of his life, Diane, it was love at first sight, and she supported him best efforts every step of the way. One of Leafor biggest accomplishments was being a father. Together, they had one child: Danielle Charley. Leafor and Diane shared 31 years together. He had always wanted a family, he raised 4 bonus children, and loved like his own John, Jermaine, Diana, Dion. They called their dad a superhero, and even as adults, still see him that way. He was always there for them through their ups and downs, and taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer.
He had a passionate love affair with White Castles and Bingo. But his favorite things were being around his family and eating good old home meal cooked food. His constant companion was his dog named Buddy, who was his shadow, his partner in crime, and his little bit of comfort when he felt alone or sad. In his spare time, he loved being outdoors, spending time with his family. He managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible.
On his final day at Darby Glenn Nursing Home, he was listening to his favorite group band The Temptations "Beauty is only Skin deep" with his daughter and grandson Sincere Leafor, who he adored more than anything else in the world.
Leafor is survived by his sister Norma Goode, brother Victor (Mary) Goode and his only child, daughter Danielle and bonus children and his grandson Sincere, but he was a beloved PawPaw to 9 bonus grandchildren. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends. Leafor spent his last day talking about how much he was looking forward to seeing her in heaven. He lived a long, happy life. We will miss him dearly, but we know he will no longer be suffering and can finally rest. Special Thanks to the staff at Darby Glenn Nursing home.
