Lelah Margaret Andrus, age 87, of Powell, Ohio, passed away on Monday, September 5, 2022. Lelah was born on March 30, 1935, to the late Albert C. Litteer and Helen (Kemp) Litteer in Warsaw NY. She met the love of her life, David Taylor Andrus, at Ithaca College, they wed and spent 57 happy years together until his passing in 2016. They raised their three daughters in Henrietta, NY. Lelah was a proud mother, loving wife, and devoted daughter. She is survived by children Elizabeth Andrus, Barbara DeVitto, and Nancy Heinzerling; grandchildren Evan, Anna, Clayton, and Ethan: siblings Sally, Albert, Carey, and Tom.
Lelah had many interests, and she was able to pursue many of them up until her passing. She was an exceptional athlete once winning MVP at age 40 in a woman's softball C League tournament. Recently, she enjoyed watching women's softball on tv and discussing it with fellow enthusiasts.
Lelah was an avid gardener and brought her eye for beauty and knowledge of gardening with her to Powell StoryPoint Senior Living where he served on the Gardening Club. She also brought her love for music and vast knowledge of hymns and the Bible and provided music that matched the lessons and sermons for both the StoryPoint Bible study group and church services.
As sad as her daughters are for our personal loss, we celebrate that our mother is no longer in physical pain and that she can, once again, be with her beloved husband, parents, nephew Ben, cousin Cindy, her aunt Evelyn and countless other loved ones. Lelah left many who loved her behind, but she gets to now be with the family she so dearly missed and loved and for this, we are grateful and can find peace.
Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of her Life on Saturday, October 1 at 5:00 PM at StoryPoint South, 10351 Sawmill Parkway, Powell Ohio 43065.
A family memorial service and interment will be held on October 15, 2022, at 1:00 pm at the West Sparta United Methodist Church located at 4287 Redmond Rd. Dansville, NY 14437.
