I was a Corrections Officer at the Minor's Unit when Leah was a counselor there. She was always so kind and happy. She went the extra mile to help the minor's who were incarcerated. She was a lot of fun to be around and such a great person. Miss your smile and humor.

I was one of Red's Camp Tapawingo campers in the early 1970's, and I and so many others are deeply appreciative of the joy that she spread throughout camp with her caring, humor, guidance, uninhibited sense of fun, and especially song. Camp is all about singing, and Red enriched so many many of our special gatherings with her original songs, which will be sung with great feeling for years to come. I believe I have a memory of her clicking on a lamp for a spotlight and doing a solo performance of "Day by Day" on the balcony of the Main Lodge during our Friday night Services. She returned to camp to visit and she and her close friend Debbie Earl gave us the gift of a beautiful concert. I am fortunate to have a cassette tape of that concert which I listened to with joy yesterday as I took my neighborhood walk. My neighbors might have airbuds, but I've got Red in my tape recorder! Camp is also all about friendship, and Red was a beautiful model of what it means to be a dedicated and open friend. I feel fortunate to have known and learned from her.

Leah was a student of my at Murray High my first year of teaching in fall of1962. She along with Dwight Moody and Mark Russell became my favorites and shaped my teaching. Leah was a joy to have in class and left me with so memories. We later became friends on Facebook and renewed our friendship. She will be missed.

Some of my most precious memories from youth group at First Baptist include the "gang" that included Leah, Mark, Freddie, and Dwight. You just never knew what was coming next from those kids. Such happy memories from then. And I was excited to reconnect with Leah when she moved back to Murray through FaceBook and messages we exchanged. She will always hold a special place in my heart.

As a mail carrier I get to interact with so many people on a daily basis, but I can honestly say none have meant as much to me over the years as Ms. Leah did. She was a so sweet and kind to me and always quick to strike up a conversation. We talked so many times over years about Yankees baseball and she always asked about my son. I'm so sorry to hear of her passing, she will be missed by me and many others. I feel honored to have known her. My deepest condolences to her family and all that knew her.

Fredda and Richard,
I was so sad and shocked when I received Leah's obituary at work. It just broke my heart. I will always remember the last time you (Fredda) and she were in the Ledger and even through her pain, she was cracking jokes. She was such an outstanding person and one who everyone loved to be around. She will be greatly missed!! I won't try to come to the memorial because of the restrictions on numbers and I know there are so many family and close friends who will want to be there. But know I am thinking and praying for all of you! Just so sorry!

I knew "Red" for several years as a Counselor at Camp Tapawingo in Sweden, ME. She was a wonderful counselor, full of life and love. She had a magnificent voice and was always willing to share. She had a soul mate at Camp in her friend Deb and, together, they made beautiful music for all to hear. They will now sing with the Angels! Red was loved. She was a wonderful role model. She will be missed. God Speed, my good friend. Keep on singing. My condolences to her family. Jackie Perry

My heart is breaking! Fredda and Richard please know how much I loved Leah and can't comprehend my life without her! We've been friends since 1956 and I talked with her briefly last Friday. We had kept in contact through texting and FB. She was devastated over Gena. Fredda I am sorry about Gena. This is a lot for y'all to bear! I pray God will bring you comfort by knowing how much your family means to me. I will always love Leah. God bless your precious family!❤
