Leanne Marie Duplissis, age 63, passed away at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, in North
Muskegon, MI. Leanne was born in Muskegon on January 11, 1962, to Richard and Penny (Gadziemski) Cioe, but moved to Sumpter, SC, when she was young, where she graduated from High School. She went on to study at University of South Carolina, D'Youville University in New York, and then receiving her master's from Grand Valley State University. She was a driven student, always maintaining a 4.0 grade point average and making the Dean's List. She worked as an elementary school teacher for Muskegon Public Schools for 30 years before retiring in 2018. Leanne married Mark Duplissis on October 1, 1988, and the two of them spent 37 wonderful years building their family together.
Leanne's faith was deeply important to her. She said the rosary every morning and watched mass every week, and was a longtime member at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She volunteered her time wherever she could, often assisting with art projects for the church children's ministry. She was a dedicated teacher, doing everything that she could for her students over the years. She enjoyed watching western films, loved animals, particularly her dog, Gus, and had a great sense of humor. More than anything she enjoyed spending time at home with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Leanne will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Mark Duplissis; five children: Aaron (Jessica Gillings) Duplissis, Andrea Duplissis, Nick (Karah Guardian) Duplissis, Katie (Jordan Gilbert) Duplissis, and Joe Duplissis; and eight grandchildren: Leo, Ella, Madison, Mason, MaryElla, Olivia, Ovi, and Evelyn. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Rick Cioe.
A MEMORIAL MASS will be held at 11:00 AM for Leanne on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, with the ROSARY being prayed at 10:20 AM at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1110 Dykstra Rd
