Leanne McHugh Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home & Crematory - Antigo on Dec. 24, 2025.
After celebrating 83 years with relatives and friends, Leanne Laura (LaPoint) McHugh made her final trip on December 20, 2025, and we are comforted in knowing she is now in the arms of lost loved ones. Leanne packed a lot of living, laughter and loving in her lifetime. Every life has a story, and she thanks you for being part of hers.
Leanne's story begins in Oshkosh, WI on March 10, 1942, the daughter of Donald and Lucille (Eichman) LaPoint. She was delivered at home by her grandmother, Madge LaPoint. Leanne graduated from Oshkosh High School in 1960. Following high school, she received her certification as a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) in Milwaukee, WI. She worked in the health field for 22 years as an RMA for Dr. Gordon Hardie, a position she was deeply dedicated to both doctor and patients. After the unexpected death of Dr. Hardie, she finished her working years and retired from the Finance Department of J.J. Keller & Associates.
Leanne was united in marriage to Patrick McHugh in 1966. God blessed their union with a special daughter, Elizabeth, who was not only Leanne's daughter, but her best friend. She filled her life with love and great pride. Patrick preceded her in death in 2000.
Upon retirement, Leanne moved to Deep Wood Lake in Deerbrook, WI. She built wonderful memories with many good friends and where her heart always remained.
Leanne possessed incredible joy in weaving baskets. She made many gift baskets throughout the years for relatives and friends. One of her favorite baskets to make was the Green Bay Packer basket for special Packer fans. She relished her time at Deep Wood Lake, and especially the call of the loons. She always said every day was beautiful on the lake and she never tired of it. In earlier years, her dog, Chloe would sit with her on the dock for hours enjoying the peacefulness. Chloe is now waiting for her at the end of the rainbow bridge.
Leanne was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, godmother, sister and friend. She will be missed dearly by her daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law Keith Kufahl; grandchildren Joshua (Rachel) Spalding, Meghan (TJ) McDaniel, Kelsie, Hailey, and Courtney Kufahl; great-granddaughters Genevieve and Adaline Spalding; great-grandsons Parker and Tate McDaniel; and brother Neil (Gail) LaPoint. She was honored to be godmother to David, Ellen, Brian and Joshua. She is further survived by a very special "forever friend", Pam Monson, who was always there for her in life, and very special friends "Tick" George and Judy who always made sure she was taken care of. Leanne appreciated the many acts of kindness from her friends and neighbors who helped her in times of need in the "north woods". She also left behind her dear loving companion English retriever Zoe who filled her last days with love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving friend and companion Lynn Werner in 1984, very close dear friends Beverly Geiger in 2015, Dona Berens in 2017, Pat Jordan in 2020, Betty Jensen in 2022, Dave Monson 2025, and other friends and relatives with whom she was very close to.
A celebration of life will be held at later date.
The family would like thank LeRoyer Hospice Services for their loving care and alongside Leanne's daughter allowed her to spend her final time at her beloved Deep Woods Lake.

Sending my condolences to the family of Leanne. Perhaps she has reunited with my wife, Beverly. They were close friends and spent many hours visiting at work and weaving baskets at home. I am sending a photo from 2012 at a JJ Keller retirement party for Beverly. Leanne was present along with other employees that may enjoy the photo. Bev and I visited Leanne at least once at her lake property years ago. What a great place to enjoy the outdoors.
