Leanner Carroll Porter, affectionately known as "Lea," was born on August 2, 1955, in
Conway, Arkansas, to the late Reverend Elmer Fuller and Mary Louise Fuller Horton. She was the sixth of nine children born to this union.
Leanner was preceded in death by her father, Reverend Elmer Fuller; her mother, Mary Louise Fuller Horton; her grandfather, Prince Fuller; her grandmother, Leanna Moore Fuller; and her brothers, Robert Joseph Fuller and Rev. Prince Dale Fuller.
She was raised in Mayflower, Arkansas, where she attended Good Shepherd School and later Mayflower High School. During her years at Mayflower High School, Leanner was an accomplished basketball player, proudly playing alongside her sisters and forming lifelong bonds both on and off the court.
At the age of fifteen, Leanner relocated to
Houston, Texas, settling in the Piney Point area. She later attended Robert E. Lee High School, where she graduated in 1973. Committed to lifelong learning, she went on to obtain her bachelor's degree from a Houston university, further strengthening her professional foundation.
Following high school, Leanner married and from that union welcomed a beautiful daughter. Though the marriage later dissolved, her greatest pride and lifelong joy remained her child, her only daughter.
Leanner dedicated her professional career to accounting and finance, working for numerous companies throughout her life. A true lifelong learner, she was a passionate reader, an active member of a book club, and someone who deeply valued knowledge, growth, and self-improvement.
Her faith and service were central to her life. Leanner faithfully served as the church secretary at Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church for over forty years, where her consistency, devotion, and loving spirit left a lasting imprint on the church and its members.
Above all, Leanner loved her family deeply. She cherished her daughter, Deanna Lachelle, and adored her granddaughters, Olivia and Harper Burks, who were the joy of her heart.
Leanner Carroll Porter transitioned peacefully from this life on February 1, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted daughter, Deanna Lachelle of
Houston, Texas; her beloved granddaughters, Olivia and Harper Burks; her brothers, James Fuller of Arkansas and David Fuller of Los Angeles, California; her loving sisters, Louise Green (Larry Green), Willa Harvey, Phyllis Fuller, and Mary Ann Fuller, all of
Houston, Texas; along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and her cherished church family.
Her life motto:
"I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me."
Philippians 4:13
