Leda McGath Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williamson Funeral Home (Williamson-Airsman-Hires) - Jacksonville on Feb. 20, 2026.
Leda June McGath, 87, of Jacksonville, IL, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2026, at The Pointe in Jacksonville.

She was born April 10, 1938, in Athensville, the daughter of Rubert Turner and Zillia (Hughes) Turner. Leda June married Edward McGath on July 12, 1958, in Jacksonville, and he later preceded her in death in 2011.

She is survived by one daughter, Kimberly (husband, Michael) Langan of Jacksonville; two brothers, Gary Turner of Jacksonville, and Rick Turner of Florida; two sisters, Nina Edmiston of Jacksonville and Phyllis "Kay" Frietag of Jacksonville; two grandsons, Bryan (wife, Rikki) Langan of Jacksonville, and Brandon (wife, Kaitlin) Langan of Montgomery, IL; three great grandchildren, Kellan, Rhys, and Madison Langan.

In addition to her husband, Edward, and her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ron Turner and Rolland Turner; and three sisters, Sue Smith, Linda Seymour, and Freda Beerup.

Leda June worked for Barton Stone Home for over 30 years as a therapist assistant. She never missed going to her grandsons' games from little league to high school. Leda June loved having and going to family get togethers whether it be family reunions or cookouts. She loved celebrating holidays, going on one-day trips with family for fun and shopping trips with her daughter, Kimberly. My oh my, did she love shopping.

Leda June never missed a day calling her daughter every morning to make sure she wasn't late for work or simply just to chat. She followed up with her later in the day as well. She would constantly check on friends and family to see how they were. Her proudest moments were Kimberly getting married, the births of her grandsons and their graduations and marriages and having three great grandchildren to visit and spoil.

A prayer service will be held 9:00 AM Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Williamson Funeral Home, where the family will meet friends until 11:30 AM following the prayer service. Condolences may be sent online at airsman-hires.com.
