Lee was born on January 30, 1974 in Columbus, Georgia to James F. Casteel Jr. and Patricia Peavy Casteel. In addition to his parents he is survived by his devoted wife Chau, his darling daughter Mia, his faithful brother Casey, a special brother Jason (Anita), mother-in-law Nguyet Le, sister-in-law Op Lam, many close and dear friends from high school he stayed in touch with, an uncle Horace (Barbara), aunt Becky, several first and second cousins, and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews who live in Vietnam.
Lee graduated from Osborne High School in 1992, then became an EMT and went on to serve in the US Navy from 1994-1998, earning the rank of Petty Officer 3rd Class Corpman working with the Marines on Parris Island, South Carolina and then served two tours in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba working with the Marines in the minefields. His medical background kicked in May of this year when an elderly lady in a steak restaurant we were eating at started choking and two others couldn’t perform the heimlich maneuver, but he was able to save her. He worked as a dispatcher the last 20+ years for two courier companies.
Fishing, cooking and watching UGA football games, and just being outdoors were Lee’s favorite pastimes, but the one that brought him the most joy was time spent with his daughter teaching her to fish and cook.
Lee’s kind heart and gentle soul endeared him to many and he will be missed.
