West Gardiner- Lee C. Kimberling, 82, of West Gardiner passed away on Friday, May 9, 2025, at Togus Springs Hospice.
Lee was born on February 2, 1943, in Charleston, West Virginia, the son of the late Carlyle K. and Elizabeth (Ranson) Kimberling. He attended schools in West Virginia including Greenbank High School.
Lee served in the United States Army for eight and half years achieving the rank of SSG. He served two tours of Vietnam (SocTrang 63-64, Pjhuloi 67, and Qui Nhon 68). He worked as a CNA at the Togus, VA Center for 25 years.
Lee was an avid fisherman and snowmobiler. He was a member and former President of the Barnstormers Snowmobile Club, a member of the West Gardiner Snowmobile Club and the American Legion. He took great delight in teaching children to fish as well as telling jokes and making people laugh.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl F. Foote of West Gardiner; a brother, Robert Smith and his wife, Dr. Tina Thornton Smith of Columbia, TN; daughters, Laura Urbaitis and her husband Tracy of Fayette, Amy Collins and her husband Theodore of Westminster, CA, Karen McGibney and her husband Richard of Farmingdale, Amanda Canteenwalla and her husband Cyrus of Davenport, FL, Kayla Barnes and her husband Jacob of Topsham; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Marylou Prode of W. VA; great grandchild, Henry James Hovance; previous wife and best friend, Constance (Crockett) Kimberling.
Visiting hours celebrating Lee's life will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Ave, Gardiner, ME. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 16, 2025 at 1:00pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 14 Hasson Street, Farmingdale, ME. Burial will be in Chelsea Heights Cemetery, Chelsea, ME. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared with the family on the obituary page of the Staple Funeral Home website www.StaplesFuneralHome.com
