John Scott Kimberling, age 82 of Amarillo passed from this life on September 28, 2025.
John was born on June 1, 1943, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to John Dewey and Ruby V. Kimberling. He was a proud member of the first graduating class of Tascosa High School in 1959.
On November 9, 1961, John married Patricia Williams, in Amarillo, Texas. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and dedication to family.
John was the successful owner of Kimberling’s Custom Drilling, which he operated for over 35 years. He was the epitome of a hardworking man—principled, meticulous, responsible, and driven by high ethics.
When it came to his family, John’s love and support were unwavering. He had a special bond with his daughter, Kelly, whom he adored. With his sons, John and Kevin, he took a slightly more stern but caring approach, always aiming to instill strong values. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
John was truly the best—a complete person in himself. The world is undoubtedly better because he was in it.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Kevin and by a niece Mendy Kimberling.
John is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Patricia; his daughter Kelly Davis; his son, John Kimberling Jr and wife Zeny; his brother Tom Kimberling; six grandchildren, Ashley Palmer and her spouse Clay Martin, Joshua Kimberling and his spouse Gwendolyn, Maria Vickers and her spouse Zack, Shelbey Davis and her spouse Trent Ware, Mason Kimberling; and Sean Kimberling; his great grandchildren, Sirr, Peyton, Emily, Hailey, Mia, Cole, Zayden and Zaylee; by one great- great grandchild, Avaya; and by a special helpful angel, Joel Miles, who was always there for the family.
