Lee Norris Nold, M.D. 71, passed away June 12, 2013 after a 3 1/2 year battle with head and neck cancer. He was born June 25, 1941 in Madison, SD to the late Dr. F.W. and Jean (Busby) Nold. Lee graduated from Beadle High School in 1959. He graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1963 then completed medical doctorate from Tulane University in New Orleans. Lee started his internship with the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, FL where he was a flight surgeon attached to the U.S. Marine Corps squadron in El Toro, CA. Lee also served in Vietnam, completed his residency at the U.S. Naval Hospital, Balboa, CA and later was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Commander. Lee is survived by his wife Anna Derden-Nold, daughters Lori Meiers and Marilee (Tom) Kracht of Sioux Falls, SD, son Bradley (Jennifer) Nold of Los Gatos, CA, grandchildren Erin, Nicole, Joey, Seth, Dalton and Alexandra, and sister Nola (Lee) Boyd of Pleasant Hill, MO. Graveside service will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 at 11 am at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, AZ. The family asks that you please wear casual attire. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Lee's name may be given to Hospice of Arizona Greenfield House Inpatient Unit, 1132 S. Oakland Ave., Mesa, AZ 85206 or the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center, 10460 N 92nd St Ste 206 Scottsdale, AZ 85258. Arrangements entrusted to Heritage Funeral Chapel, Peoria, AZ

Dear Doc Lee,
You were a man that so many of us admired but never told you so, because of your humble nature. You never sought attention or recognition for all that you have given us.
Now it's time we say Thank You, Doc.
A straight shooter to the very end you were. We hope you know how many lives you touched and how many of us are humbled in knowing you and your courage. Countless friends have looked up to you over the years. You will be deeply missed and will never be forgotten. Few men can compare to the caliber that you demonstrated with your unique wit and your humility in the face of adversity. We love you Doc Lee, and will never forget you.
Your many friends from Desert Peaks will very simply miss you forever.
