Royal Lee Phillips, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Atrium Health Navicent in Macon. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 1:00 P.M. at the Phillips Family Cemetery, located at 191 Royal Phillips Rd, Cochran, GA 31014.

Born and raised in Thomaston, Royal was the son of the late Roy and Murtis Phillips. He graduated from R.E. Lee High School in the Class of 1950 and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Royal built a long and dedicated career with Southern Bell Phone Company, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring.

Royal had a lifelong passion for motorcycles. Known for always having four or five bikes at any given time, he found great joy in riding throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxine Wilson Phillips; his son, Lee Edward Phillips; his daughters, Candy Lee Phillips and Darlene Lee Phillips Jones; and his siblings Joy Strickland, Marjorie Cochran, and Lyle "Fatso" Phillips.

Royal is survived by his 5 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Henry D. Phillips of Meansville; Jerone (Gloria) Phillips of Thomaston; Martha (Joe) Daniel of Thomaston; Bennie Ree (Buck) Chapman of Meansville; Marijo King of Flovilla; and Cherry (Rickey) McCord of Thomaston. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will greet friends following the service on Friday.
