Leon Arthur "Lee" Vivlamore passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025. He was 89 years young. Lee was born in Chateaugay, New York, on March 19, 1936. He was adopted by Francis ("Buck") and Mildred Vivlamore. Unfortunately, Mildred died when Lee was only 11 years old. Francis married again, to Bertha Lyons, and Lee gained five step-siblings: Stanley, Roberta, Connie, Karen, and Joan. After Bertha passed away, Francis married Erma Monette, and Lee gained five more step-siblings: Cheryl, Margaret ("Peggy"), Vincent ("Buddy"), Billy, and Linda. All have predeceased him except for Karen and Linda. Lee's adopted father, Francis, died in 1982. In the late 1980s, Lee met his biological mother, Mabel Jones, and his half-brother, Raymond Jones, and learned that another half-brother, Bradley Jones, had predeceased him. Lee attended school at Raymond Street Grade School, Flanders Elementary School, and Franklin Academy. He graduated from FA in 1954. He joined the army after graduation to serve his country during the Korean War. He was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey, for basic training with the 11th Airborne Division; at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, as part of the 101st Airborne Air Assault Division as a paratrooper; and at Fort Bragg, North Carolina with the 82nd Airborne. He also was stationed in Augsburg, Germany, for 18 months, and completed jumps in Germany, France, and Italy. He was honorably discharged with the rank of corporal in 1957. When he returned stateside, he worked a variety of jobs until 1962, when he became a loyal employee of 36 years at Sysco (formerly River Valley Frosted Foods). In 1966, he married Margaret Elizabeth Campbell at Notre Dame Catholic Church. They enjoyed 56 years of marriage and had two daughters together. Margaret suffered a long illness at the end of her life and Lee faithfully and lovingly cared for her until her death in 2022. Lee enjoyed his job driving tractor trailer and delivering food to many customers. He had a great sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. He loved dogs, horses, and kids. He was a great pool player and belonged to several area pool leagues. He took pleasure in visiting with patrons and staff during his daily coffee break at Hosler's Family Restaurant for many years. Lee was predeceased by his parents, his half-brother Bradley, several step-siblings, his wife Margaret, and his grandson Nathaniel Armstrong. Lee is survived by two daughters and their families: Kim (Sedric) Waguespack of Washington, IL, and grandchildren, Hannah Waguespack and Daniel Waguespack; and Kristi (Joe) Armstrong of Chateaugay, and grandchildren, Jordan, Hunter, and Brianna Armstrong; half-brother Raymond Jones and step-sister Linda Jessie, both of Malone; step-sister Karen Wilcox of Gloversville; brother-in-law and sister-in-law George and Myra Campbell of Malone; sister-in-law Virginia Campbell of Westville; sister-in-law Lois Jones of Vineland, NJ; several nieces and nephews; and beloved friends and neighbors Cliff and Tammy Hebert, who were so helpful to Margaret and Lee in their later years. Many thanks to them for providing meals, lawn and driveway care, and household care along with their treasured friendship. Many thanks, also, to niece Laurie (Wood) Stapleton for faithfully checking in on her Uncle Lee, calling and visiting with him, and bringing him groceries when he needed them. Lee was a communicant of St. John Bosco and Notre Dame churches. The family is at peace knowing that he is now in Heaven with Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and his beloved wife, Margaret. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Brushton, NY at 10:30am on May 29, 2025 with Father Scott Seymour officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Lee's memory can be made to Empower Connections, Inc., which is a nonprofit that extends resources and opportunities to make a positive difference in the lives of individuals and the community of Malone. Lee was a very compassionate man and he was very touched to learn that quilts for the children requiring the services of the Franklin County Foster Care Department were being made in the little sewing shop right next door to his home. Empower Connections, Inc. is located at 4418 State Route 11, Malone, NY 12953 or online donations can be made at empower-connections.square.site Condolences may be made at fraryfuneralhome.com.
