Lee R. Williamson of Wichita Falls, Texas died November 22, 2022. Memorial Services will be held next summer at a time when the sons and grandchildren can attend. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home.

Lee Roy Williamson was born on August 7, 1923, in St. Jo, Texas. He and D. Jean Ahring were married November 27, 1947, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Lee was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Lee served in the Army Air Corp during World War II from January 7, 1943, to February 11, 1946. He was commissioned in the army reserve in 1949 and resigned in 1957 as a First Lieutenant.
He graduated from Addington High School, Addington, Oklahoma in 1941. Lee earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Central State College, (It is now the University of Central Oklahoma), in 1947, his Master of Education degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1950, and his Doctorate of Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 1960.
Lee spent 41 years in public education. He taught mathematics at Capitol Hill Senior High School, Oklahoma City, from 1947 to 1950. He taught and served in administrative positions in Amarillo, Texas from 1950, to 1969. Beginning in 1969, Lee served as Superintendent of Schools in Pueblo, Colorado. He then moved to Wichita Falls, Texas in 1974 and served as Superintendent of Schools, retiring in 1988.
Lee had life memberships in Texas and Colorado Congress of Parents and Teachers Association.
In 1962, the University of Central Oklahoma granted him the Distinguished Former Student Award. He was named a Paul Harris Fellow by the Downtown Rotary Club, the highest award given by Rotary.
Lee was named Superintendent of the Year by the Texas School Board Association in 1985. He was appointed to serve on the Board of Trustees for the Texas Teacher Retirement System in 1979 by Governor Dolph Briscoe, in 1983 by Governor William Clements, and in 1994 by Governor Ann Richards.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 75 years, D. Jean (Ahring) Williamson; son Bruce Alan Williamson; his parents B.L. and Bessie Williamson of Addington, Oklahoma; brother Alfred Williamson of Hastings, Oklahoma; and sisters Marmette Williamson Jones of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Iona Williamson Teague of Madisonville, Kentucky, and Wanna Lois Williamson Foster of Waurika and Norman, Oklahoma.
Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Scott and Beverly Williamson of Olathe, Kansas; Keith and Anne-Marie Williamson of Wichita Falls, Texas; his grandchildren, Abby, Adam, Miranda, Ellen, John, Thomas, and Lee and many nieces and nephews.
Gifts of remembrance may be made to the Wichita Falls Independent School District Education Foundation, Wichita Falls Area Food Bank, Faith Mission, or River Bend Nature Center.
