Leemedia “Billie” Baker Weavil, 93, went to be with the Lord on March 6, 2025. She was born in Forsyth County on September 22, 1931, to the late Marvin and Lula Thomas Baker. Billie will be remembered for her warmness, generosity, occasional stubbornness, and her love for others. While primarily a homemaker, Billie also worked at Hanes Hosiery and took pride in her work. She was incredibly affectionate and took on a nurturing role in those who she oversaw. Billie enjoyed spending time at the beach, where she would relax and watch the waves lap on the shore. She was an avid game player, her favorites being Phase 10, Rummikub, and Yahtzee. More than anything, she cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a charter member of Union Cross Baptist Church, where she continually expressed her devotion to the Lord. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Billie is preceded in death by her husband, Grady Dale Weavil; as well as her son, Kenny Weavil.
Surviving are her two daughters, Kathy Idol and Kelly Weavil; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Weavil; five grandchildren, Sonya (Jason), Brian (Melissa), Jennifer, Paul (Jenna), and David (Kymbre); 10 great-grandchildren, Lane (Kaitlyn), Garrett (Paige), Colton, Grady, Lilly, Avery, Hudson, Theo, Korey, and Jaxon; a special niece, Jane; a longtime friend, Kim; as well as a “Grandson”, Connor.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Union Cross Baptist Church, with Dr. Steve Ayers officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, from 10:00-10:45 AM. Interment will follow the church service at Abbotts Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
