Leila Mae Bragee

Leila Mae Bragee, 94, of Duluth, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008 at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth. She was born April 24, 1913 in Cass Lake, Minn., to Dan and Mae (Cota) Lilly. They moved to Duluth when Leila was 10 years old and resided there most of her life. She did take a beauty course in St. Paul, and worked there for a year as a beautician. She also was a cook for 35 years at the Kitchi Gammi Club. Leila married Marvin Bragee, who was a cook and they resided in Piedmont Heights. Later, they lived on Prairie Lake near Floodwood. Leila spent three years living in Floodwood as well. Leila enjoyed doing different things in her life, including bowling, sewing, crocheting, and knitting. As a bowler, she was the city champion twice and bowled on the state championship team. She also enjoyed country music, cribbage, golf, cooking, and fishing. Leila and Marvin loved to fish on Prairie Lake. 'That is why they don't have any fish left'. Leila was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marvin; and four brothers, and sisters. She is survived by a nephew, Leroy (Colleen) Lilly of Minneapolis; and several other nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews; one step-daughter, Carol (Marlyn) Lundgren of DeWitt, Mich.; four step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Evelyn and Jim Pollock of Duluth; Sandy Kennedy, Steve, Scott and Shawn Carlson. The family would like to thank the staff at Benedictine Health Care for the special care given to Leila. SERVICES:will not be held at Leila's request. Spring inurnment will be at Fine Lake Cemetery near Prairie Lake. The family has selected Nelson Funeral Care of Cloquet to assist them with arrangements.
