Lena M Gorman

Lena M. Gorman, age 101, or Parlin, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2025 with her loving daughter by her side. Born and raised in Old Forge, PA to the late Vincenzo and Mary Splendido, Lena moved to Queens, NY when she was 19 and she started her family, before moving to Brooklyn where she raised her family and resided for over 25 years. She later moved to New Jersey in 1984, where she settled in Parlin.

Lena worked 21 years for Macy's, in New York before retiring in 1986. She was a member of Keyport and Holy Family seniors, where she often sang at surrounding nursing homes. She loved spending time in Atlantic City and Mount Airy Casino in the Poconos.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Saverio Spano, her husband Bill Gorman, her children Philippa Spano, Anthony Spano, and her son in law Ron Ragusa.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Mary Ellen Ragusa, her daughter-in-law Lorie Spano, her grandchildren Anthony Spano Jr., Michael and wife Louisa Spano, and Christopher and wife Katrina Spano, her great grandchildren Angelena Spano, and Dominic Spano, her stepdaughter Pat and husband Peter Fennell, and her step grandchildren, Alison and Kevin, as well as many loving extended family and friends.

Calling hours will take place on Sunday at Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home, 15 Cherry Lane, Parlin from 2pm until 5pm.

Funeral Services will begin at the funeral home on Monday, at 8:45am. A 9:30am Mass will be held at St. Bernadette Church in Parlin. Burial will follow at Shoreland Cemetery in Hazlet.
