Lena Paylor Obituary
Ms. Lena Jacobs Paylor, age eighty, departed this earthly life and entered into eternal rest Thursday, December 4, 2025 at her residence in Durham, North Carolina. She was born June 1, 1945 to the late Jim Henry and Katie Swann Jacobs and was a member of Lattisville Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Hurdle Mills.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by siblings: Frances Torain, Alexander Jacobs, Vince Jacobs, Russell Jacobs, Excell Jacobs, Jim Dallas Jacobs, Donnell Jacobs, Dennis Jacobs and Brady Jacobs.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, three children: Diane C. Harrison of Manhattan, Kansas, Steve Paylor of Durham, North Carolina and Michael Paylor of Roxboro, North Carolina; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Leroy Jacobs (Judy) of Hillsborough, North Carolina, Connell Jacobs of Cedar Grove, North Carolina, Dolly J. Bumpass, also of Durham, Waddell Jacobs (Mary) of Cedar Grove and Kennis Jacobs (Wendy) of Burlington, North Carolina; a special friend, Larry Bright of Durham; and a host of other additional loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, December 11, 2025 at 1:00pm at Lattisville Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1701 Jimmy Ed Road in Hurdle Mills 27541, with the Reverend Dr. George Crews, III, Pastor, providing the eulogy. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
Visitation will also be Thursday at the church from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, when her body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
At other times, the family will receive visitors at her home, 2212 Broad Street, Apartment D-14 in Durham 27705.
