Leo Connick, 93, passed away on February 13, 2025. Born October 29, 1931, in Plattsburgh, Leo dedicated his life to service, family, and craftsmanship.
Leo served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean conflict. Following his military service, Leo embarked on a distinguished career with the Plattsburgh Police Department. Over the course of more than 33 years, he rose through the ranks to become Chief of Police in 1981. Leo led the department with dedication and integrity until his retirement on December 31,1991.
Beyond his professional life, Leo found joy in working with his hands. He spent time in his shop crafting items for friends & family. A skilled carpenter, he also took on renovation projects during retirement. He loved to be outdoors, riding his motorcycles, hunting, & fishing on Lake Champlain. Later he became an avid vegetable gardener and enjoyed helping his wife Sue can their harvest. Cooking was always another passion of his, bringing warmth and nourishment to those around him.
Leo had a deep affection for animals, particularly his beloved "Grand dogs," J. D., Nikita & Crixus, whom over their lifetimes he took everywhere-car rides, long walks through the woods, and even special trips to McDonald's for treats.
Leo is survived by his wife of 24 years, Susan Connick; four daughters: Anne M. Connick, Colleen Felici, Linda Parent Hicks, & Johanna Dominy; six grandsons, two granddaughters; & numerous great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Shawn Lucas and son Mark Parent.
Leo's legacy of service, craftsmanship, & devotion to family will be cherished by all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those he leaves behind.
The family wishes to thank CVPH, EMT of CVPH, the Emergency Department staff, R4 & ultimately R5, along with Meadowbrook Health Care Sub-acute unit. All of the Medical practitioners that have served him over these past 25 years did so with professionalism, kindness & empathy.
At Leo's direction, there will be no services. Donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude's, Children's research Hospital.
