Richard Kenneth Connick of Lansing,
Passed away September 30, 2024, at the age of 80. Dick was born in Lansing, Michigan on April 29, 1944, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Harris) Connick. Throughout his life, Richard was known for his entrepreneurial spirit, having owned and operated Jerry's Sewer Service as well as several other businesses. Richard's dedication extended beyond his business as he wore the badge of the longest-living member of the VFW #6132 with honor and pride. His zest for life was evident in his numerous and varied interests. He was an avid bowler, a passionate collector, and a frequent presence at auctions and estate sales. Dick was also known for his great cooking skills. During his time in the Army, he was an engineer and then a MP, but sometimes when he got into trouble, they made him cook. He often told stories to his family about peeling endless amounts of potatoes. Dick enjoyed traveling to Baldwin and Indiana to soak in life's experiences. An enthusiast of music and dance, he brought a rhythm to life that was contagious.
He is survived by his children, Kimberly (Tom) Cook, Richie (Melissa) Connick, JoAnna (Dennis) Rouse, Frederick Scott, Sarah (Drix) Benavides all of Port Huron; siblings, Linda Flaugher, Carol Connick, Karen Dunckel, Brenda (Mike) Wekenman, Lisa (Scott) Koons, Monty McCarrick, Pat (Ronda) McCarrick; 14 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Dick was preceded in death by his soulmate, Phyllis Johnson; parents; brothers, Magoo McCarrick and Dennis Connick.
A funeral service will be held at the Mills Funeral Home, Shelly-Odell Chapel on October 4, 2024, at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior. Interment will take place in Mount Hope Cemetery. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW #6132, 3104 W. St. Joseph St, Lansing MI 48917 in loving memory of Richard Kenneth Connick.
