Leo Goates 1927-2025
Leo William Goates, 97, of Arcadia, California died peacefully at home on May 11th, 2025.
Leo was born in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1927 to Leo Walman and Ethel Goates, and grew up at 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake. Leo Attended West High School, before entering the Navy and Air Force in 1945 and 1958, respectively. Leo earned three advanced degrees from BYU, UCLA, and SMU.
Leo served a Mormon mission in Sweden, Worked for the Internal Revenue Service as an Estate Tax Lawer in Los Angeles, and was very active in genealogical studies.
Leo enjoyed Photography, Music, Travel, and was a Gourmet.
Leo is survived by his husband David Callahan, and his children Rebecca Jarvis and Stephen Goates.
A graveside service will take place on July 12, 2025, at Salt Lake City Cemetery, at 11am.
