Leo was born on December 30, 1946, to the late Lee Lloyd and Ruby Lloyd Champion. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 54 years, Shy Ann Lloyd of Morton, daughter, Tanya Lloyd Lewis (Kermit) of New Orleans, LA, son, Austin Lloyd (Angelica) of Morton, siblings Helen Ausubel (Marc) of Three Rivers, CA, Christine Lloyd and Dora Chambers of Milwaukee, WI, Leon Champion (Elaine) of Las Vegas, NV, Mary Ann Champion of Los Angeles, CA, four granddaughters, Gabrielle Lewis of New Orleans, Addison, Amiah and Alayah Lloyd, all of Morton, one great grandson, Reece Franklin of New Orleans and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Leo was preceded in death by his siblings Zula Mae Lloyd-Atkins, Mary Lee Lloyd Brooks and Johnny Lee Champion.

Leo graduated from Bettye Mae Jack High School in 1967 where he played football and was a member of the Future Farmers of America. Leo embraced his faith and was an active member of Homestead M.B. Church for over 50 years. He was a trustee, all- around handyman for the church, and thoroughly enjoyed singing in the male chorus. Leo retired from a construction career as a top-notch heavy machine operator. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he watched every episode of Gunsmoke at least three times. His quiet demeanor, generous spirit and fierce loyalty drew people to him. Leo loved his family dearly and often made them laugh with his straight to the point, observational humor. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
