Leo Magni Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McCalla Memorial Funeral Home on Jan. 22, 2026.
Leonetto "Leo" Magni, 93, born December 5th, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY to Gioacchino Magni and Erina Leonetti, passed away peacefully on January 21,2026. He was preceded in death by his siblings Renato Magni, Stella Zoccali and Amelia (Molly) Concilero.

Preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Magni, he is survived by their 6 children. Melody Magni, Leo Magni, Jr. and wife Lynn. Dean Magni and his wife Debbie, John Magni, Vincent Scott Magni and his wife Mary, and Rina Vance and her husband Joe. There are 14 grandchildren and 27 surviving great grandchildren, plus 2 who met him in heaven.

Leo was a true Renaissance man. He had trained to be an opera singer. He was a tenor and even sang in Carnegie Hall in NY. In his younger years he worked different jobs. In the 1970's he became a hairstylist, eventually owning his own shops in El Paso and Alpine, Texas. He loved theater and performed many plays and musicals at the El Paso Playhouse among other theaters elsewhere. He and Mary retired to Rockport, Texas where he became one of the local artists, painting landscapes and lighthouses, monuments and paintings of Italy. He was an excellent cook. If the ladies who gave samples in the stores where he shopped knew 'Mr. Leo', he would call them Mom for another treat. He was always making people smile and laugh. He touched every heart he met. He said that was his purpose.

He was always health conscious. At 93 he was proud that his doctor said he was the healthiest patient she had. He was strong and proud and full of light. His favorite song was Frank Sinatra's 'I Did It My Way', which seemed to be Leo's theme song for life. He took care of and loved all of us very well. We will miss him dearly.

There will be a Celebration of Life honoring Leo on Sunday February 1st at 2pm at Reno Baptist Church. This is a time to share and celebrate what he meant to all of us. Please feel free to dress comfortably.
