Leo E Martin Jr, 82, of Spring Hill Florida, formally of Warwick RI passed away peacefully Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Sturgill Hospice House, Brooksville, FL.

Born on May 20, 1943, in Providence RI, he was the son of the late Leo E Martin Sr and Myrtle (MacDonald) Conover, and stepson of the late Howard Conover. He grew up in Warwick, Rhode Island and attended Warwick Veterans Memorial High School (Class of 1962).

Upon graduation, he worked as a welder and steamfitter for C.I. Hayes until establishing Bayview Boat Haulers in 1968. His passion for the marine industry and life along the Rhode Island shoreline eventually led to becoming the co-founder of Harbor Light Marina, Inc. where he was a daily fixture from 1975 until his retirement in 2012.

For over 40 years, Leo was a true master of every task-boat repair and maintenance, engine repair, dock building, pile driving, dredging, boat hauling-you name it, he did it with unmatched skill and dedication. Beyond his tireless work ethic, he was known for his generosity and kindness, always going the extra mile for his customers and hosting memorable gatherings that brought the Harbor Light community together in friendship and celebration.

Perhaps the truest legacy lies in the bonds Leo formed with family and friends. A devoted family member, he treasured time spent around the dinner table, sharing stories and laughter late into the night. Home was a haven for loved ones, a place where everyone was welcomed with open arms and an open ear and an open plate (no one was ever hungry around Leo).

Leo is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 62 years, Barbara (Thompson) Martin, his children Yevette Amaral, Annette Scott (Mark), Robert W Martin ( Kerry), his grandchildren, Joshua Scott, Seth Amaral, Christine Brennan (Dillon), Maxwell R Martin, Rocco W Martin, Cas Rego-Martin, Jasper Martin, and his great grandchildren Dean Brennan and Delaney Brennan, Leo was the brother of Howard Conover (Joan) and Sandra Permanente (Robert). Leo also leaves his loyal buddy Cooper.

A service to celebrate Leo's life will be held later in Rhode Island. Friends and family will be invited to attend and share their memories.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to HPH Hospice, Sturgill Hospice House 12242 Cortez Blvd Brooksville, FL 34613 in honor of Leo Martin.

Leo always said, "The most important part of life is to be comfortable" and he lived that truth -finding peace by the water, joy in the little things and comfort in the love of his family.

The ocean is in his soul

And now, it carries him.
