Leo Meyer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by White Funeral Home - Apple Valley on Jan. 21, 2026.
Leo Joseph Meyer passed away peacefully at home on Monday January 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. Leo was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, on April 20, 1954, to Roy Francis Meyer and Pauline Monica Johnston Meyer. Leo grew up in a loving home with great parents and five sisters. He enjoyed sports and played on his high school football and basketball teams and college football team. Most of his career was in the manufacturing environment in Iowa and ended with The Toro Company in Bloomington, MN.

When not working, Leo loved playing golf, spending lake time with his sisters in Iowa. He later purchased a cabin on Sullivan Lake in Minnesota. Here is where he spent most of his time and loved when his children and grandchildren were all around. He taught his grandchildren to drive the pontoon, wave runner and to build fires. He loved being out on the lake pulling his grands on the water tube, ZUP or skis but his favorite spot
was sitting on the deck appreciating God's creation, beauty, and serenity of the lake. He was known as Papa by his family whom he loved and adored more than anything. In the words from friends, "If you were in his life, you were treated as family. He had a strong calm presence and loved deeply."

All during the journey of his health issues he was strong, resilient, always had a positive attitude, and his faith never wavered. He is a true man of God.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Pauline Meyer, his brother-in-law Paul Votruba. He is survived by his wife Donna Meyer, his sons Brian Meyer (Amber), Eric Meyer (Jennifer), Ben Caldwell (Christy), and daughter Natalie Anderson (Brandon). Also, his grandchildren Bryce Selzer, William Anderson, Noah Caldwell, Chloe Caldwell, Nolan Meyer, Carter Meyer, Anna Meyer, Hailey Stavlo, Alexander Stavlo, Kennedy Wilcox, and Cullen Wilcox. Sisters Julie Renken (Alan), Janie Votruba, Martha Doyle (Larry), Beth Schnurr (Tom), and Paula Harper (Jerry), as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family wants to thank his Brighton Hospice team Bailey: Christine, and Carla. His MHealth Fairview TCU therapy team Brenda, Beth, Lesley, Jess, Cara, Natasha, Molly. They truly are amazing and have become part of our family.
