Leo Herbert Posey, Sr. "Cowboy," age 75, resident of Monroe, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Columbus Hospice House. Graveside services are scheduled at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama on Monday, December 4, 2023, 1:30pm, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431 N, Phenix City, Alabama. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday, December 4, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m.
Mr. Posey, son of the late Richard Leo Alonzo Posey and Lemo H. McElwee Posey, was born November 10, 1948 in Headland, Alabama. He was a painter by trade and Mormon by faith. Mr. Posey enjoyed fishing and camping, particularly camping at Bluff Creek. He also enjoyed grilling for family and friends, playing old classic country music, and watching classic western movies. The family remembers him as a minimalist; a jokester to some; and a traveling mountain man.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Jewelle Howard, Ruby Edwards, Helen Hermesman, and Rosina Tinsley; and a brother, Loyd Posey.
Mr. Posey is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Posey; four sons, Richard Posey and his husband Shan White of Monroe, Georgia, Leo H. Posey, Jr. and his wife Tiffany of Waverly Hall, Georgia, Chad Posey and his wife Brandy of Cataula, Georgia, and Charles Posey and his wife Heather of Smiths Station, Alabama; step-son, Edward Mincy of the Philippines; one brother, Robert Posey of Spokane, Washington; ten grandchildren, Christopher, Kayleigh, Mykayla, Kealey, Cody, Caleb, Cameron, C.J., Seth, and Krimson; many other relatives and friends.
