Leola Catherine Marquardt, born on July 17, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on June 27, 2025, in Trenton, Michigan, at the age of 90. Her life was a testament to the power of charisma, kindness, and an adventurous spirit that inspired all who knew her.
Leola's smile could light up any room, and her vibrant personality drew people to her effortlessly. She was always on the go, embracing life with open arms and an open heart. Her love for travel took her to all 50 states, a remarkable journey she shared with her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Buschbacher, with whom she visited 49 states. Together, they created memories that spanned the nation and enriched their lives.
A true "snowbird," Leola cherished her winters in Webster, Florida, where she was an active member of the Red Hat Ladies, a group that celebrated friendship and joy. Her commitment to community service was evident through her volunteer work at Bishop Co-op in Wyandotte, where she managed the second floor, and her dedication to Meals on Wheels, also in Wyandotte. Her selflessness and compassion touched many lives and left a lasting impact.
Leola was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years and the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Buschbacker, her sister Marion, and her brothers Jack, Harold "Red," Richard "Dick," and Robert "Bobby." She is survived by her loving family: her children Robert Buschbacher, Jr., Richard Buschbacher, Deborah (Thomas) North, Mitchell (Lisa) Buschbacher, and Catherine (Robert) West; her brother Paul Reeves; her sisters Wanda Wells and Evelyn "Midge" (Mike) Prybyla; as well as 21 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Her friends from Bishop Co-op and countless other family and friends will forever cherish her memory.
Leola's legacy is one of love, laughter, and a zest for life that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Leola's name to Meals on Wheels, Wyandotte location, by clicking the button to the left. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
