Leon "June Boy" Russell Bolden peacefully transitioned from this life into eternal rest on August 20, 2025, at the age of 77 with his devoted wife at his bedside. Leon was born April 17, 1948, at Milford Memorial Hospital in Milford, DE to Mary Bolden Batson and the late Leon Waters.
His early childhood years he went to Frederick Douglas for two years ad later transferred to Hurlock Elementary School until 3rd grade. Leon attended Mace's Lane High School and graduated in 1966. Leon was drafted in the United States Army at the age of 20. He served in Vietnam and was later honorably discharged. After serving time in the U.S. Army, Leon started working in fields picking cucumbers and tomatoes. He was employed at Acme Markets for a short time and later retired from PET Poultry in Bridgeville, DE.
Leon married the love of his life Diane Daniels, on February 14, 1994. Leon loved "Fast Cars" and loved to drive fast. He had a "Need for Speed". So he loved a "Hemi" under the hood. His past time was watching TV. His favorites were Westerns- Gunsmoke and Texas Walker Ranger. Leon loved hats, he could be seen wearing different logos, and teams. He did not play about his fashion, he knew he was "cool". Leon loved to go out to eat with his wife and sometimes he would enjoy a meal alone. He ate at PK's so much that they knew him by name.
Leon had a "Big Heart". He would help anybody regardless of who they were. He always took care of home first. All the kids called him "Pop-pop". He loved all his grandkids, Noree was pop-pop boy. He would always be there for Pop-pop to help him. Leon loved his church family also.
Leon leaves to mourn his wife of 31 years Diane Bolden of Seaford, DE; one daughter, Lynette "Lynn" Bolden of Hurlock, MD; four bonus children, Keith (Cheryl) Daniels of Wilmington, DE, Orrin Daniels of Wilmington, DE, Veronica (Gary) Camper, and Frederick Daniels all of Seaford, DE; granddaughters Brittiany Bolden and Tiara Ricks of Baltimore, MD along with 15 bonus grandchildren; great granddaughter Brooklyn Naylor of Baltimore, MD along with 13 bonus great grandchildren; Mother, Mary Batson of Hurlock, MD; two aunts, Imogene Bolden of Hurlock, MD and Gloria Batson of Federalsburg, MD; one sister Enola (Roland) Jones Sr. of Hurlock, MD; two half brothers Forrest (Tanya) Waters of Newark, DE Michael (Becky) Water of Laurel, DE, three half sisters Doris Farmer of Fayetteville, NC, Violet Waters, and Lisa (Dexter) George of Seaford, DE. Mother-in-law Sarah Smith of Wilmington, DE; two brothers-in-law Roland Jones Sr. of Hurlock, MD, Jeffrey Smith of Wilmington, DE; four sisters-in-law, Faye Cannon of Seaford, DE, Marcella (Orlando) Fletcher of Wilmington, DE, Deneen Thompkins and Martina Cannon of Wilmington, DE; two nephews Andre (Dionne) Batson of Bowie, MD and Roland (Rev. Keisha) Jones Jr. Leon also leaves to mourn a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends. Along with special friends Rodger Cornish and Larry DeShields.
