Leon J. Borowski, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 10th, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 5th, 1947, in Corbera, Germany, Leon was adopted by the late Robert and Naomi Hilliard Simms.

Leon worked for many years at Star Markets before joining Tops Friendly Markets in LeRoy.

A proud veteran, Leon served in the United States Army, he served from 1967-1970 earning the Good Conduct Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and National Defense Service Medal. His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for fishing, coin collecting, and trapshooting. As a member of the Sportsman Coonhunters Association in East Pembroke since 1992, Leon found joy and camaraderie in the company of fellow enthusiasts.

Leon is survived by his step-brothers, Carl (late Ada) Simms and Bob Simms, both of Rochester, as well as Carl's daughter, Simone Simms, and her children, Naomi and Drake. He also leaves behind his longtime friends, Bill (Peggy) Lawrence, Dave (Brenda) Moscicki, and Nick Calarco, along with their families.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a visitation at Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia, on Monday, September 15th, 2025, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Graveside services will immediately follow visitation at the Western New York National Cemetery, 1254 Indian Falls Road, Corfu, New York, at 1:00 pm. If you are attending the graveside services please gather at the administration building by 12:45 pm on Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local VFW or American Legion Post.
