Leon 'Bim' Burrell was born on February 20, 1945, in Mer Rouge, LA, to Annie and Willis Burrell Sr. where he grew up surrounded by love and a deep sense of faith and love of family. He gave his life to Christ at a young age and was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church in Mer Rouge, LA. Leon was a kind and generous soul, and a faithful friend to all who knew him. Leon graduated from Union High school in Mer Rouge, LA in 1963. He lived in Houston, TX in 1963, Dallas, TX in 1964, Oakland, CA in 1965, and settled in Las Vegas, NV in 1984. He joined the Army in June 1968. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for being a Sharpshooter. Leon held many jobs throughout his life. Most recently, he retired after working as an Electrician for many years. Leon met his wife Irma in elementary school. They also attended Union High School together and later rekindled their romance in Oakland, CA. They were married on April 8, 1972, in Reno, NV. On January 28, 1974, their daughter Adija was born. Irma fell ill just a few years later. Irma proceeded Leon in death in 1997. Leon was also blessed with a son, Mikal (Mother Vernell) on July 7, 1994. Leon was called home to heaven on Sunday, December 14, 2025. He was proceeded in death by his Parents: Annie and Willis Burrell Sr., Siblings: Lola Banks, Dorothy Burrell, Robert Burrell, and Bernard Burrell. Leon leaves to cherish his memory: Children: Adija (Kevin) Hope and Mikal Burrell: Grandchildren: Kaden Hope and Kaiya Hope: Siblings: Virginia Page, Mattie Shaw, Willis 'Bo' Burrell Jr., Helen Taylor, Margaret Burrell, Bonnie Burrell, and Charles Burrell: Best Friend Nelwyn (Nel) Harrison, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. His unwavering kindness touched the lives of everyone he met. His energy and passion for life will never be forgotten. His legacy of love, compassion, and truth will continue to inspire all who knew him.
