Leon Gaff Obituary

Leon, a native of Coffee County was born August 23, 1947 to the late Ira Gaff and the late Aline Walls Gaff. He was educated in Coffee County and went on to attend the State of Georgia Police Academy where he earned his Law Enforcement certification. Leon retired from the Coffee County Sheriff's Department following 21 years of dedicated service to his community. He was also a member of the Police Benevolent Association for many years.
Leon leaves behind a devoted and loving wife, Julia Maye Schuettler Gaff of Douglas, Georgia; 2 sons: Michael Allen Gaff of Douglas, Georgia, and Darrell Lee Gaff (Scott) of Douglas, Georgia; 2 grandchildren: Amber Gaff and Jarod Gaff, both of Douglas, Georgia, along with a number of nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Leon's family will receive friends on Saturday morning, May 31, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at St. Illa Baptist Church. A funeral honoring Leon's life will follow at 11:00 AM in St. Illa Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Reagan and Rev. Donnie Kirkland officiating. He will then be laid to rest in St. Illa Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will include: Joey Vaughn, John Davis, Keith Brigmond, Richard Meeks, Mark Carver, Thornell Steghill, and Luis Ramirez.
Honorary pallbearers will include Isaac Brock and the Adult Sunday School Class.

Leon's arrangements have been entrusted to the kind and compassionate staff of Ricketson Funeral Home, Inc. of Douglas, Georgia.
