Dunn, NC: Mr. Leon McLamb, age 87, of McLamb Road passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church in Angier, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Revs. Jerry Carter and Jeff Morgan will officiate.
Mr. McLamb was born on January 24, 1937 in Sampson County, NC to the late Willie and Lillie Pearl Lee McLamb. Alongside his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Brad Adams; great-granddaughter, Ashleigh Nunnery; brothers, Junior McLamb, Edward McLamb, and Hughlon Ray “Hoot” McLamb. Mr. McLamb was the owner and operator of Broadslab Seedlings Nursery for over 20 years. He was an avid outdoorsman especially rabbit and raccoon hunting. Mr. McLamb was a devoted husband, father and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Kathleen Hudson McLamb; daughters, Genise McLamb Wyer and husband, Michael, Pearl Denise McLamb Barefoot and husband, Wayne Cagle, Gail McLamb Jones and husband, Ronald, Anita McLamb Jernigan and husband, Ricky, Nichole McLamb Wood and husband, Ron; step-son, Junior Godbold; grandchildren, Jason Barefoot, Candice Tart, Kyle Jones and wife, Morgan, Steven Godbold and wife, Jackie, Cheri Godbold, and Patrick Godbold; thirteen great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; brothers, Thurman McLamb of Angier and Maylon McLamb and wife, Katie of Benson; many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:45PM to 1:45PM prior to the service on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 and other times at the home.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude’s’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
