Leon "Lee Lee' Russo, Jr. born on June 23, 1964, passed away on December 19, 2025, at the age of 61.
Lee was a dedicated husband, father and grandfather who worked tirelessly to provide for the family he loved so deeply. Lee was a quiet man who showed what he valued through his actions. His values were evident in how he worked, how he loved and how he showed up for his family, friends and community. Lee was a hero to his family and taught them so many things over his lifetime, things that will keep his legacy alive in the generations to come.
He is survived by his cherished wife of 40 years, Michelle; his daughters, Heather and Casey; his son-in-law, David (Heather); his grandchildren, Madison and Emily (Heather), and Rylan, Elise, and Ivy (Casey); his mother, Carrol; his nine siblings-Jonathan, Jennifer, Debby, Sheri, Betty, Tammy, Richard, Chris, and Christianne; and his cherished Aunt and neighbor, Sonja.
Lee found peace in the outdoors, especially at his cherished camp in the Atchafalaya Basin. He loved hunting and fishing there, enjoying the stillness and solitude it offered. That same freedom that nature provided carried over to the open road, where he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and pulling his camper toward new adventures exploring new places with his family, and dear friHe took great pride in his home and yard, always finding satisfaction in a job well done. Over the years, Lee accomplished so much for his family and community. He served in the LA Army National Guard and as a Minute Man with Border Control in Arizona & New Mexico. Lee had a servant heart and was ready to help wherever he was needed. He helped rescue people during Hurricane Katrina and once saved a neighbor from her burning home. During Lee's lifetime he worked at Martin Mills, worked offshore, performed environmental work, served as an apartment maintenance manager and ran his own handyman service. In the end, Lee was happiest being the Estate Manager for our Isle Labbe compound. Whatever the task, Lee approached it with quiet competence, integrity & persistence.
Lee had a curious spirit and many passions. He loved animals, motorcycles, four-wheelers, metal detecting, collecting coins, building models, and playing with remote-controlled planes, boats, and trucks. He enjoyed camping, hiking, searching for rocks & gems, gold panning, exploring, and learning something new wherever he went. And Lee loved ice cream, M&M's, Sixlets and Sonic Blasts.
Those who knew him will remember his unique humor and humble nature. Lee's quiet strength, confident values and exceptional knowledge will be deeply missed. His memory is truly a blessing, and his legacy lives on in all who were fortunate to know him.
Lee was preceded in death by his father, Leon Sr.; his brother, Teddy; his sister, Windy; and Stuart (Casey).
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
