Leon Self Obituary
Mr. Self passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at his residence. He was born July 24, 1960, in Morgan County, to Harvey Floyd Self and Ruby Jane Johnson Self, who preceded him in death.
He was employed by both International Paper Company and also for Union Camp for over 40 years during his career as a Dye Maker, prior to his retirement. He was an avid Cyclist and a Tour de France fan, a fan of college football, especially Alabama Crimson Tide, and was a member of the Neel Volunteer Fire Department for 20 + years. He also was a Black Belt in Karate and competed successfully all over the southeast.
Survivors include
Wife of 35 years- Kathy Singleton Self
Step-Sons - Jerry Rooks and
Brad Rooks,
Three Brothers-
Harvey Self,
David Self (Elizabeth), and
Stanley Self.
Sister - Rhonda Self and
Special Sister- Stacie Gooch.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Family requests memorial donations be made to to the American Heart Association or flowers are optional.
