Steven Leon Twitchell, a respected pillar of the Rosiclare, Illinois community, bid farewell to this world on August 20, 2025, at the same place where his story began. Born on November 18, 1957, to Eugene Maurice Twitchell and Juanita Smock Twitchell, Leon spent his entire life in the small town that he so dearly loved.

A man known for his work ethic and dedication, Leon spent many fulfilling years serving at American Minerals before his retirement. His contributions were not only to the industry but also to the fabric of his hometown through his involvement in various community activities. Colleagues remember him as a dependable and loyal friend who brought both commitment and warmth to his workplace.

Despite the loss of his beloved wife Diane Conkle Twitchell, Leon's loving spirit was perpetuated through his family. He is survived by his sons, Michael and Wayne "Jaycee" Twitchell, who will carry on his name with pride and affection. Steven's legacy also endears in his grandchildren, Steven Lee Twitchell, Tyler Ray Twitchell, Dylon Deneen Twitchell, Garrett Michael Underwood, Zachary Underwood, and Braxtyn Smock, each a testament to his guidance and love.

Steven's life was woven with the threads of fraternal and familial love, leaving behind his brother Dewayne Twitchell and sister Margie "Justin" Leigh Jackson, several nieces and nephews along with a community that will deeply miss his presence.

Leon Twitchell's journey was a testament to a life well-lived and filled with the love of family and the respect of peers. While his passing marks the end of an era, the stories of his life's work and the warmth of his generosity will continue to echo through the lives of those who knew him. Leon's memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and all those he touched throughout his distinguished life in Rosiclare.

Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday August 26, 2025 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with visitation after 11:00 AM at the funeral home. The Rev. Steve Dunn will officiate and burial will follow at Twitchell Cemetery.
