Leona B. Hoover
Leona B. Hoover, age 95 of Albion, PA took God’s hand on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Pleasant Ridge Manor in Fairview where she had been recently convalescing.
Leona was born in Albion, Pa., on April 28, 1930, the daughter of the late Fezzington and E. Elverne (Matthews) Main. She outlived all her sisters and brothers. She was one of ten children.
Leona worked for many years as a cafeteria cook at the Elk Creek Elementary School in the Northwestern School District in the 1950’s. She also worked as a physical therapy aid at Pleasant Ridge for 27 years. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Albion and was a past Matron of the Albion Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #22. She attended the Albion Senior Center and enjoyed crocheting and reading.
Besides her parents, Leona was preceded in death by her husband, Elwin (Whitey) Hoover, an infant sister, Grace Main, eight brothers: Forrest, Ralph, Harry, Glenn, Glair, Carl, Burt and Frank Main. Also a son-in-law, Howard White.
Leona will be missed every day by her daughter, Linda White of Albion, Pa., and her son, Paul (Carol) Hoover of Conneaut, Ohio. She will also be missed by grandchildren: Carrie (Nathan) Allen and their daughter, Chloe; Dale White and his sons, David and Jonathan; and Jessica (Jason) Moyer and their daughters, Angela Gongola and Kylie Moyer and many nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to call at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main Street, East Springfield, Pa. Tuesday, September 16, 2025 starting at 11 a.m. with the Eastern Star Services and resuming until the time of the service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Terry Campbell, of the Cranesville Community Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery where Leona will be laid to rest next to her husband.
Memorial donations in memory of Leona may be made to the Masonic Hall Association, 10448 John Williams Avenue. Albion, PA 16401.
