Leona White Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Marcom-Harvey Funeral Care on Aug. 2, 2022.
Leona was the youngest child born into the union of James and Bertha Anderson on September 11, 1932, in Lake Village, Arkansas.
She was joined in marriage to Darris White. They moved the family to Kansas City, MO. She retired from Hallmark Cards after many years of service.
Leona Was preceded in death by her parents James and Bertha Anderson, brothers Arthur Anderson, James E. Anderson, Leamon Young and sister Mildred M. Peterson, her children Dorothy J. Jackson, Leamon White, and Larry White, and a granddaughter Darrissa R. Roberts.
Leona was baptized at an early age. She was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church for many decades. She served on the usher board and loved attending Sunday School. When she could no longer physically attend church services, she attended virtually via Facebook. Leona enjoyed the preaching of Reverend R. L. White (known as her Baby)!
She enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling and spending time with family. Every birthday was special. She made your favorite cake or pie and song Happy Birthday often accompanied with a thoughtful card.
Leona White was known to many as Mother, Mama, Mom, Grammie, Grandma, Little Grandma and Granny. Her voice was soft spoken with profound words of wisdom and comfort. You could talk to her about anything without judgement. She was a great keeper of secrets. Her faith in the Lord was unwavering. When giving advice she would often direct you to scriptures that provided insight and comfort. Yearly she would read the bible from Genesis to Revelations as if it was new to her each time. She often heard the phrase, "Things happen when you pray."
Leona will forever be cherished, loved, and adored by her children Darris White, Luciel Duncan, Joyce Williams, Ace White, and Linda (Steve) Hill. Grandchildren Tracy Anderson, Robin Anderson, Carlos Robertson, Elliott Robertson, Latrice Moore, Phil Duncan, Mia Duncan, Lavina Randle, Doug Williams, Kareem Williams, Tanesha Hill, Leonia White and Aces White, as well as a host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephew, friends, and church family.
Our hearts will forever miss you, but our memories and cherished times together will keep us strong and live forever. Knowing you're rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior gives us peace. We Love You.
