Leonard was born on January 11th, 1944, in Gordo, Alabama to Leonard and Ruth
Barks. The family moved from Alabama to Michigan in 1952. He graduated from Livonia
Bentley high school, in 1962. Shortly after, he enlisted in the United States Navy and
was honorably discharged in 1966. He worked for the General Motors Company for 30
years and in 2010, retired to the St. Petersburg area.
He loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and cruising around in his Mustang convertible.
He also loved to travel with Carole to places like Hawaii, the Caribbean and Mexico!
However, nothing could surpass his love for his family and friends. His famous line was
"I am the coolest Papa to some amazing kids"!
All will sorely miss his infectious smile, jovial laugh and joking spirit!
A memorial service will be held at a later date for friends and family in Michigan to
