Leonard Hof Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edgerton Burial Association and Colonial Funeral Chapel on Feb. 17, 2026.
Leonard Van't Hof was born on February 15, 1937, to Cornelius and Johanna (Schmidt) Van't Hof on their family farm near Chandler, Minnesota. After completing the sixth grade, Leonard dedicated himself to working on the farm alongside his family.

He met the love of his life, Bertha Bakker, while she was providing housekeeping and childcare at his brother's home. The two were united in marriage at the Chandler Christian Reformed Church January 3, 1958. After a year in California and two years in Luverne, Minnesota, they settled on an acreage south of Edgerton in the early 1960s. Leonard was a hardworking dairy farmer for many years before joining Huisken Meats in 1986, where he worked until his retirement in 2007. The couple remained on their beloved farm until 2018, when he moved to the Edgebrook Care Center independent apartments.

Leonard was a man of simple pleasures; he loved a good game of Rook or Scrabble and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He was a man of tradition until the very end, insisting his family enjoy root beer floats to celebrate his 89th birthday this past Sunday.

Leonard is lovingly remembered by his family:
