Illig, Leonard A., 62, Cresson, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, at his home. Born June 29, 1963, Altoona, son of the late Charles J. Illig Sr. and Mary J. (Gailey) Illig Stohon. Also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Karroll; brother, Charles “Chuck” Illig Jr.; brother-in-law, Ron VanGuilder; and sister-in-law, Diana Illig. Leonard is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Dannielle M. (Mikolajczyk) Illig; siblings, Linda VanGuilder, Patty (Dave) Williamson, James (Sally) Illig, William Illig, Anthony (Anna) Illig, Fred (Trina) Illig, and Mary (Mike) Zerbee; brother-in-law; Ken Karroll; father and mother-in-law; Thaddeus and Eileen Mikolajczyk; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends from the military. Leonard was a proud veteran, serving 20 years in the United States Navy. His dedication to the military extended after enlistment when he became a member of the American Legion Honor Guard and a life member of the Sankertown VFW Post 7377. Leonard worked as a Correctional Officer for the Commonwealth of PA at several state prisons over the years. In his spare time, Leonard enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his beloved dogs, Pearl and Chunk. At the request of the family, there will be no services.
