Leonard Lee Long of Lander passed away on August 16, 2025, at The Help for Health Hospice House in Riverton, WY, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 11, 1934, in Broadwater, Nebraska, to Merle and Olive Long, Leonard moved with his family to Wyoming near Pavillion. He graduated from Morton School in 1952 and enlisted in The Armed Forces in 1954, serving at FT Benning, GA, where he earned The National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and The Parachutist Badge. After his active service, he continued in the Army Reserve.

In 1957, Leonard married Janice Best, and together they raised three children: Monte, Marci, and Lisa. He was part owner of Best and Sons Meat Packing Plant in Kinnear, WY, and later worked for Logan Packing in Riverton, WY. Leonard and Janice built their first two homes in Hudson, WY, before moving to Lander in 1977, where they constructed their forever home in Sinks Canyon. The couple was involved in several business ventures, including The Popo Agie Trailer Court, The Marmel Company, and The Lander Meat Market. After retiring, they enjoyed square dancing, playing cards, and traveling.

Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Janice Long; his parents, Merle and Olive Long; his brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Sonny) and Marylou Long; and his daughter-in-law, Pamela J. Long. He is survived by his son, Monte Long of Lander; daughters, Marci (Dave) Heyborne and Lisa (Michael) Duffy, both of Lander; grandchildren, Mandy, Amber, Travis, Chad, Kolton, and Keenan; numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jerry Long and Ron Long.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10:00am on August 23, 2025, at Mount Hope Cemetery, 720 Mount Hope Drive, Lander, Wyoming.
