Leonard G. Marshall, born to the late James and Carrie Marshall, began this journey on May 27, 1953. He was the oldest of two children. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Leondra Marshall.
Leonard, affectionately known as Leon, was a graduate of Bronson High School, Class of 1971 and the University of Florida. Leon was an Educator in the Alachua County Public School System for many years.
Leon was raised in a Christian home and accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was a devoted member of Gainesville Church of God by Faith, where he served faithfully and dutifully until his illness and subsequently, his death. Because of his passion and love for singing, he served and the Choir Director. He had a melodious voice and left an indelible mark through expressions of songs wherever he went.
On July 21, 1979, he married the love of his life, Helen Singleton. She affectionately called him "Marshall". They were married for forty-five (45) years.
Leon loved conversing and getting to know people. He was a sharp dresser and loved to dress other people. He enjoyed baking and traveling.
He transitioned on Monday, February 3, 2025, at UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. Loving memories will remain in the hearts of his family: his wife of 45 years, Helen Singleton Marshall of Gainesville, FL; one sister, Cerise Smith (James) of Bronson, FL; four aunts: Jean Mitchem of Newberry, FL; Reverend Geraldine Singleong, Glade McAllister and Janie Johnson, all of Gainesville, FL; three brothers-in-law: Lewis Singleton, Jr. (Aurora), Clarence Singleton (Mary), and Alfred Singleton, all of Gainesville, FL.; two God-sisters, Gertrude Blake and Johnnie Phillips, both of Bronson, FL; four God-brothers, Malone Blake, Reverend Donnell Sanders, Cameron Smith, all of Bronson, FL, and Amos Watts of Gainesville, FL; special friends: Patsy Mingo of Bronson, FL and Sam Devose (Caregiver), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and caring friends.
